Hawo hm 950 DC-V ‘NanoPak’ heat sealer review

It is important to ensure that the heat sealer you are purchasing is not only up to the job, but will also give you years of reliable service. In this month’s blog, we take a closer look at the Hawo hm 950 DC-V NanoPak or just ‘NanoPak’ for short.

Who is Hawo?

Hawo is a family owned company, based in Obrigheim, Germany, initially set up by Hans Wolf, hence the company name ‘Ha-Wo’. The company is now spearheaded by his son Christian Wolf and his mother Helga has a significant role in the company as Head of Finance.  The company has won dozens of awards over the years for innovation of their products and the new NanoPak lives up to expectation.

Hawo NanoPak overview

The NanoPak is the most technologically advanced heat sealer from Hawo. In fact, it is arguably the most technologically advanced heat sealer on the market. Period.

It is compact and features a full colour, 4.3-inch touch screen. It is also available in four different colours as standard: stainless steel, Arctic White, Black Onyx and Retro Orange (see above image). The Retro Orange harks back to the colour of Hawo’s first ever heat sealer over 40 years ago. In fact, users can go one step further and have their NanoPak in any RAL colour they like at an additional cost.

Hawo NanoPak features and functionality

The NanoPak comes with an array of built in features and functionality. There is an internal printer which will print onto the underside of the pouch as it passes through. For users who are processing plastic pouches, this will be embossed instead of printed as ink can rub off easily.

The NanoPak can be connected in a variety of different ways. It can be connected to an external printer and is compatible with Hawo’s VeriDoc labelling system.

Users can also record data from the heat sealer to a USB stick. Furthermore, it can be added to a network by way of an RS 232 or Ethernet connection.

Intelligent technology as standard

Hawo’s FontMatic technology is included as standard. This is a clever piece of technology that automatically adjusts the size of the font depending on the size of the pouch. Furthermore, the technology can also print barcodes and logos if required.

Hawo have also included the SizeMatic technology in the NanoPak. This is used in tandem with a scanner. Users will scan the device they are sealing using predetermined QR codes. The heat sealer will then tell the user what the optimum length of the pouch should be. All relevant safety margins are considered and included in the calculation. SizeMatic helps to minimise wastage and poorly sterilised packages.

Hawo NanoPak conclusion

The NanoPak is a fantastic heat sealer, packed with lots of technology and functionality. It fully complies with MDR 2017/745 and would be a great addition to your Sterile Service Department.
