Sterile Services: How can we help you?

Laboratory equipment maintenance,
repair, calibration and sales.

Henderson Biomedical have been working with Central Sterile Service Departments (CSSDs) for over 25 years. We service, repair and calibrate all makes and models of rotary and impulse heat sealers. These include, but are not limited to Hawo, Famos, Getinge, Gandus and Astrapac.

We have a wide range of spare parts in stock, even for some discontinued models. One of our friendly and knowledgeable engineers can visit you to carry out an on-site service, repair and calibration of your heat sealer. Alternatively, you can send your device back to our workshop at a lower service rate. In this instance, we would send you a loan heat sealer in advance to minimise the downtime in your CSSD.

Hawo heat sealers

We are proud to be the exclusive UK distributor of Hawo heat sealers. Hawo is the market leader in both rotary and impulse heat sealers. They have an enviable reputation for quality and reliability.

We are able to offer sales advice on which Hawo heat sealer would best suit your requirements. Furthermore, our engineers are factory trained by Hawo in Germany, ensuring that you will get expert after sales service.

Pouch making machine

Cutting pouches to size is a time-consuming task which often leads to errors and therefore wastage. This is because decontamination technicians often accidentally cut the pouches to the incorrect size.  To avoid this, we are able to supply you with the Hawo hm 8000 AS/AS-V SealCut. This instrument, not only cuts pouches to the exact size required, it also functions as a conventional heat sealer. There is a short video which demonstrates how the Hawo hm 8000 AS/AS-V works.

Pouch destruction test

A pouch destruction test (also known as a peel test) is an additional compliance service that we provide. Simply seal 10 empty pouches in your heat sealer and post them to us for testing. We will test the pouches with a calibrated device and record the results of the seal strength in newtons. A calibration certificate will then be issued for your records.

Other ways to ensure compliance

In addition to the pouch destruction test, we are also able to offer seal checks and ink tests which you can use on a daily basis to give you regular assurance on the quality of your seal. These are often combined with an annual service and calibration of your heat sealer. We recommend a three-point calibration (speed, time and force) at time of service to ensure full compliance.

Training

We are able to offer you induction training on using your heat sealer as well as highlighting some best practices. Training usually takes place at your site and we are able to issue certificates of attendance for your staff. Please contact us for more details on training.
